After the opening of the newest cultural and historical site in Karlovo, dozens of residents and guests of the city visited Kurshum Mosque. The lawsuits that the municipality of Karlovo brought against the mufti for the ownership of the building lasted for more than 9 years. In 2015, there were protests in Karlovo and in Plovdiv demanding that the Kurshum mosque and other objects remain in the possession of the municipalities. The Supreme Court of Cassation finally ruled that the contested building should remain the property of the Karlovo municipality together with the adjacent land on which it was built. After the successful restoration, the immovable cultural asset with historical value has been completely renovated and restored. The original masonry and fragments of the original wall paintings have been preserved, transformed into a cultural space, part of our common architectural and historical heritage, which can be entered by all citizens regardless of their religion. Kurshum Mosque is an exhibit at the Historical Museum – Karlovo. Since its opening in May, it has been visited by more than 1,000 adults and students, residents and guests of the city. It is open for visits every day from Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. Welcome!
